SENSHI SUNI
A young woman sets out to create a safe space within the gaming world.
Suni lives a solitary life, retreating into the world of streaming from the confines of her small apartment. As "Senshi Suni," she streams first-person shooter games, finding not only comfort and financial support from her growing community but also creating a safe space for herself and others.
While she strives for mental healing, Suni must also confront the pervasive sexism and darker aspects of online life.
Thoughts
I’m interested in what happens when new technologies begin to reshape the way we relate to one another. Rather than seeing these changes only through dystopian scenarios, I’m drawn to the new forms of intimacy, connection and community they can make possible.
As a filmmaker, I’m interested in that ambiguity. Digital spaces can create closeness while also unsettling our ideas of intimacy. They can be liberating and destabilizing at the same time, offering comfort while confronting us with new questions about how we want to live and connect.
